Education Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Education - Assignment Example Quality literacy learning happens when students are offered the opportunities to appreciate recreational and creative aspect of the entire literature and other kinds of texts (Nixon, Comber, with Grant, & Wells, 2010). The curriculum should therefore allow students to fully participate in the society. The program should involve among other forms of support an emphasis on independent reading and independent writing alongside critical literacy to achieve independent learning for diverse learners. This should be crowned by a proper ongoing assessment that involves the following: running records, observation surveys, observation checklists, rubrics, anecdotal records, and marking scales. Using an ‘inquiry stance’ permits teachers to analyze the dynamics and complexities of their classroom communities as well as to design curriculum basing on their knowledge/understanding of students in their circumstances (Nixon, Comber, with Grant, & Wells, 2010). This means, teacher-researchers in schools teaching diverse students bring social circumstance into the foreground; they take into social circumstance to be more than the ‘background’ to the lives of their students’. This approach makes the cultural and linguistic diversity of families a property rather than a deficit. The discussion here follows the work of a teacher who combines critical approach literacy with a property model of cultural diversity (Laura & Carol, 2008). This involves, foregrounding students’ cultural and linguistic resources in the curriculum to generate high quality literature results for diverse learners. The school I teach, it serves a diverse community of students. This includes significant numbers of languages speakers other than English in each classroom. This means that in there are collaborations between teachers to help linguistically and culturally diverse students to develop their literacy in English and other learning

Management and Leadership In today’s business, there is the need of having people to lead and manage due to the them growing rapidly. For that, reason organizations are hiring leaders and managers to help them run their businesses. Many would think that management and leadership are synonymous to each other but they are not. The two are related, but their functions are different. Below I will differentiate their roles and responsibilities in maintaining a healthy environment in an organization. In addition, I will give recommendations to create and maintain a healthy organizational culture. Management and leadership are both important in an organization, but they seek two different things. Managers focus on managing the work that needs to be done by putting their employees to help them accomplish the objectives while leaders focus on leading people to the companies vision. Management also focuses on the short-term events, they ensure that the resources are used and improvement is made within time frames of days, weeks and months. Leaders, in the other hand deals with uncertainly, they focused on long term events such as policies and procedures. Managers empowers (not only delegate) staff and develops them for advancement. Managers has to seek feedback and listen, they have too build visions and missions with their staff. Managers has to respond promptly to staff and manager has to manage creatively and to demonstrate good examples to the staff It is important to manage the organization culture and to know the weaknesses. The goal of the organization should not only emphasize on being profitable but also to be an enjoyable place to work in. The most important assets in any organization is its employees, and nothing affects the day to day lives of the employees more than the culture in which they work. Because of poor culture can result in bad work life experience for employees, which in turn will result in higher turnover. Making the cost of retraining people in key positions, and the brain drain that comes because the new person doesn’t know quite as much as the one who left. The culture of the organization needs to be enjoyable. Character Analysis Of Bartleby And The Wolf Of Wall Street

In the movie, the Wolf of Wall Street wall street is depicted as a lively work environment filled with promising work and big profit. The movie follows a man named Jordan through the exciting ups and downs of his career on Wall Street. Herman Melville paints an entirely different picture of wall street in his short story Bartleby, The Scrivener: A story of Wall Street. In Melville’s story, we follow Bartleby through a depressing career on wall street that eventually ends in his death. Herman Melville expresses his loathing of wall street in Bartleby, The Scrivener: A story of Wall Street as well as arguing that working on Wall Street is an awful job. Bartleby losing his vision represents a wall street worker becoming discontent with†¦show more content†¦From the way the narrator describes his own environment in a similar way, describing it as an upstairs chamber with two windows that show nothing. Colt’s environment seems equally as depressing as the Lawyer’s. Still, the lawyer is not driven to violence, when Bartleby is finally kicked out of the dim building he starts starving himself, presumably to kill himself. Melville is articulating that Wall Streets offices are places of death. Whether it is an employer exploiting another worker or an employee is drawn absolutely mad, the lifeless environment of Wall Street is a huge component of worker’s sadism against themselves or others. Melville is calling out of all wall street in this piece, not just certain offices, by generalizing his characters. Melville does not give the the lawyer a name and keeps all of the names of the Lawyer’s employees as nicknames like, â€Å"Nippers† and â€Å"Turkey†. The employees nicknames do not have anything to do with the work that they provide either. They are based on physical appearance or a specific behavior of each worker. Gingernut, another worker gets his nickname because Nippers and Turkey send him to get ginger nut cakes. The nicknames are based on insignificant things about the character so the nicknames must be significant too. Melville did not want to use real names because all names have some sort of meaning. So, to keep the employees
